Ending Homelessness

One Family at a Time

Who We Are Family Promise is a community of 26 Billings faith-based congregations and over 1400 volunteers that put their faith into action to provide meals, shelter, and a safe, non-judgmental environment for families experiencing homelessness. Our congregation "hosts" take turns on a weekly rotating basis providing hospitality and basic needs to our homeless "guests." Every family receives intensive case management support, mentoring, and guidance while they look for jobs and housing. The Family Promise program is about compassion and accountability, and families are expected to work hard to accomplish their goals and regain housing. Our purpose is not to shelter and feed as many people as possible, but rather to have a lasting positive impact on families that go through our program. In the words of one "graduated" mom who is now living, with her son, in her own home, "Family Promise was hard but it changed my life." Family Promise also has four transitional housing apartments for families in our program. Need Help? Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley serves families with children on a space available basis. We can accommodate up to four families in our Emergency Shelter and four families in our Transitional Housing program at a time. Churches provide shelter and meals to families while they are in the network. Every family is expected to sign and follow the Family Promise Guest Participation Agreement, in which they agree to seek employment and housing, be considerate and respectful of other guests, volunteers, and staff, and follow and complete their case plans. If you are, or are about to be homeless and need help, please call 406-294-7432.

Every day, Family Promise connects people who want to help with opportunities to make a difference. You don't need to donate thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of service to make a difference. In fact, you can make a meaningful change for your neighbors in need with one hour of volunteer work or a single donation of clothing, food, or furniture. Won't you join us?
