Our volunteers are the bread and butter of our organization! There are about 1400 volunteers and 30 congregations who partner with us in the Billings community. We are so thankful for these relationships and always looking for more. Here some ways to get involved with us:
Sign up or inquire about any of our volunteer opportunities by emailing our volunteer coordinator at email@example.com
On the weekends our guest families spend time at our Day Center when our staff is not working. We are looking for volunteers to spend time with the families, let people in and out of the building, and provide support during two hour time slots on Saturdays and Sunday. There are five shifts available on Saturday (10am-12pm, 12pm-2:30pm, 2:30pm-5pm) and Sunday (1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm). Bring a friend or family member along for some added fun!
On Tuesday nights the families in the program attend classes. Parents attend basic life skills classes that may include budgeting, nutrition, counseling, drug addiction, parenting, tenant education, domestic violence, and more being added. Many parents need child care and this is where you come in. The children go on the FPYV bus and ride to a congregation. Shortly after arriving dinner is served; then there is a group activity. We need your help in caring for the children whose ages range from infants to young teens. You can volunteer alone, with a friend/ co-worker, your family--all are welcome. Bring your imagination and creativity!
Volunteer as an individual, group, or as a family
Family Promise is a very family-friendly volunteer opportunity! Make and serve a dinner as a family or have a "sleepover" with your kids at the congregations! There are many safe and fun ways to engage your children in volunteering for Family Promise and learning about homelessness.
Host Congregation volunteers provide hospitality to Family Promise guest families through their congregations. These volunteers provide meals, overnight hospitality, and a friendly face. If your church is not already a host congregation, contact us and we’d love to get started!
Partner Congregations provide volunteers to a nearby Host Congregation to help support their team.
Each Host and Partner Congregation has a volunteer who coordinates hosting activities for their congregation. Volunteer Coordinators work closely with the Family Promise Volunteer Development Director to meet the needs of guest families.
These volunteers donate furniture, gather household supplies for guest families and help transport furniture when families are ready to move into their new homes.
Family Center Volunteer
Assist with office needs such as answering phones as well as assisting our guest families while at the Family Center.
Special Events/Board Committees
Family Promise needs many volunteers who are interested in assisting with special events or serving on a Board committee. Board committees include: Public Relations, Development, Finance, Nominations, Personnel and Special Events.
Training for Guest Families
Teach classes in parenting, budgeting, nutrition, computer skills, art or anything else you can dream up!
